WINNING START !!
Bedale got their season off to the best possible start with a hard fought
win at Bishop Auckland. Upon winning the toss Captain Croft had little choice but to bat first as his opening bowler was still
en-route. On a damp wicket every batsman applied themselves well however the honours went to John Wilkin who top scored with
47. A late flurry by Ross Elsworth and Ed Wick took the total to 122-7 from 50 overs.
In reply Bedale got off to a very tidy start with Bishop scoring only 15
runs from the opening 15 overs following some tight bowling by Tim and Bradley. Again all of the bowlers bowled tightly with
Phil Staves and John Wilkin picking up a wicket each however the undoubted man of the match was Brad who took an outstanding
8-26 from 18 economical overs to help dismiss the hosts for just 109 and give Bedale a 13 run victory.
WASHED OUT
Bedale's first game of the season at Hartlepool has been cancelled
due to a waterlogged pitch. Bedale will be hoping to get off to a good start next week against Bishop Aukland. Team news
to follow later in the week .........
BEDALE CC ONLINE
I am currently in the process of trialing a new format for the Bedale CC website. It can be found
here :
The new site will allow each team captain / manager / coach
to input their own results and keep up to date stats for each player. Let me know your thoughts via the messageboard on this
current site. If we go down this line we will transfer the bedalecc.co.uk domain name to that site and this one will cease.

AGM NEWS
The Bedale Cricket Club AGM was held on Sunday 16th March at 7:30pm
at BASA. The meeting saw one of the largest attendences at an AGM for a number of years and both the previous and forthcoming
seasons were discussed in depth.
Both the chairman and secretary reported a disappointing year for the first team who had, after a
number of years of struggle, been relegated from division one of the NYSD. It was noted that the majority of the first team
was still very young and that it was hoped that an improvement in consistency would see us push for an immediate return to
division one. The meeting heard that the juniors had again had a sucessful season with the under 15's winning the league and
under 13's reaching the final of the cup. The under 12's had also had a good season and continued to improve.
Financially the club remained in a strong position despite a number of one off costs last year including
a new scurrifier and work on the BASA equipment store. The hard work over the previous year in ressurecting the 100 club and
a very sucessful car boot sale on Easter Saturday had boosted club funds and it is hoped that these two events would
run again this year. Perhaps the main news financially was that Phil Staves, treasurer since 1989, has decided to stand down.
The chairman wished to record the clubs thanks for all of Phil's hard work over the years.
